Reflection 5 11/16
This is a two paragraph reflection. For each topic sentence, copy the sentence exactly, then add about 4 sentences of facts and analysis/explanation which support the topic sentence.
Topic sentence 1: As the southern states seceded, their leaders had many reasons to believe that they could survive a military engagement with the Union.
Topic sentence 2: However, the Confederate leaders made some serious miscalculations.

Explain Jefferson's description of a legitimate government. Would our current federal or state government be acceptable under Jefferson's ideas? Try to argue both ways (i.e. if you say that a certain law would be unacceptable to Jefferson, tell me why and why someone else might say that Jefferson would find it acceptable). You may choose a state or federal law, both are not required.
