I graduated from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore in TamilNadu,India. I did B.E Electrical & Electronics, Sandwich course. I belong to 1996 batch. (I did my schooling in NSMVPS Higher Secondary School, Devakottai ). More on My Class & My Other Friends. I topped my class in academics and also got best outgoing student award of my class too. I was involved in lot of extra-curricular activities like TamilMandram, National Social Service, Students Union, Hostel Council, Blood Wing etc. I really enjoyed my five years stay in college.
I joined Hewlett-Packard India Software Operations Ltd. Bangalore (HP ISO) on May'96 as a Software Engineer and worked there till Oct'99. Then i got an internal transfer to HP Cupertino (BayArea in California, US). Currently I'm working in an Openview product of HP called Internet Usage Manager (IUM) programmed using Java. I worked a lot in CORBA (Common Object Request Broker Architecture) involving primarily in C++ development during my stay in HP-ISO, Bangalore. I breathe & live-on Object Oriented Programming.
I'm also currently doing my M.S (Electrical Engineering) with specialization in Software Systems in Stanford University. I'm doing it as one course per quarter. I plan to graduate in Dec'03. Look at My Stanford homepage .
My hobbies are reading Mysteries especially that of Sherlock Holmes & Agatha Christie & Dorothy L. Sayers. I also read fictions. my favourite authors in this area are Jeffrey Archer, Arthur Hailey, Michael Crichton, Richard North Patterson(Law Thirllers) etc. My recent interests have turned towards fantasy books. I'm more than thrilled by Harry Potter series by JK.Rowling, Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, Song of Ice & Fire by George R.R Martin,Memory Sorrow and Thorn by Tad Williams, Farseer Series & Liveship Trader Series by Robin Hobb. Look at my Great Fantasies and Robin Hobb Fantasies and More Fantasies in amazon's listmania. I'm also an ardent fan of tamil (my mother tongue) books. I like historic novels written by kalki & chandilyan. I read weeklies in tamil like Kumudam & Ananda Vikatan. LATEST: PONNIYIN SELVAN by Kalki entirely in e book form (pdf - auto tamil font, no need for fonts). This is due to "Project Madurai" which also contains Sivakamiyin sabatham and many other tamil literary works. Enjoy!!
I used go hiking regularly on saturday nowadays with my friend/mentor Sarath and his wife aparna, in and around bayarea. Look at Bay area Hiker for trials. Nowadays i do it alone (sarath has moved back to india) - on and off, not that regularly. Its so much fun, you can spend time with your friends (in this busy world), serves as a physical exercise - maintaining your fitness, you feel the achievement, you feel better... you can keep on adding to the list of why you should hike. I used to hike when i was in bangalore (again sarath introduced me to this), but after moving here didn't do for quiet some time. Now i have rediscovered my passion for it.
I love to listen to good tamil songs. Ilayaraja, A.R.Rehman are my favourite music directors. I watch movies occasionally if they're really good. In actors i like Rajnikant, Kamalhassan, Prabhu deva. In actress...hmm.. no one very special..i hear some one saying lie lie there ... okay.. okay.. i like aishwarya rai lot ;-).
