STOCKYARD
During a road trip through Florida, I had an epiphany. I was sitting in motel room checking how my stocks that I held for years have been doing. I started thinking "I wish I can trade stocks automatically, maybe if there's a program out there... wait a second... what if I wrote one?" The wheels started turning in my head. The burning question is whether there are any resources out there I can use to build one. I started researching the subject at a local library and through the internet. Sure enough, I found a brokerage firm that provides an API for chumps like me to interface into their system. I returned home to Texas and since I was out of work began developing my program full time.
That was April, 2003. In July of that year, the Stockyard program was functional and I began trading with. The program continues to evolve to this day, but it has matured enough to the point that I left it running while on the three week trip abroard.
To be honest I haven't had much success in playing the market, but I believe the fault doesn't lie on the program's capabilities, but in my own understanding and knowledge of the markets. On the other hand, I haven't failed miserably that I have lost all my life savings on the venture and gave up. So, I'll keep playing and gaining experience about this game. Stockyard will continue to change as I continue to learn the markets.
This program is not for sale. After all, who would want to buy this program if I couldn't make money of it? Then again if I do make money, why would I want to sell it to anybody else only for them to make money and not me? No, I'm afraid this program is mine and mine alone. The purpose here is to share some of my views with others, and maybe have an exchange of ideas. After all, misery loves company.
