What do I do at UNECA?
Since I joined ECA I worked as an Economist and a Scientific Affairs Officer promoting science and technology in Africa.
I contribute to:
- the organization and servicing of ECA's regional or subregional conferences, seminars and workshops,
- the design and execution of extra-budgetary projects,
- the carrying out of advisory missions to member States and regional organizations,
- the formulation of terms of reference for studies,
- the recruitment and supervision of consultants,
- the drafting and edition of papers for publication and correspondence
- the design and development of a network of science and technology policy-makers, analysts and managers in Africa
- the elaboration and implementation of the work programme of ECA in science and technology
These activities aim at assisting member States in:
- formulating and implementing science and technology policies
- building capacities in science and technology,
- promoting regional and international cooperation in science and technology, and
- fostering coordination and harmonization in science and technology for sustainable development in Africa.
