Cost Justification:

In these past section we have covered the purpose of the intranet, the technical setup, how it is going to be maintained, and a story board of the site. However we have not covered the most important part of the intranet equation. This question is how are we going to afford to implement an intranet. There are only two ways that the intranet can help us make money. One way is that it needs to help us lower cost. The other is that it has to let us be more competitive as a company.

So the first thing we will cover is how will the intranet help us lower are cost. One way that cost will be lowered by the intranet is that are printing cost should be cut by nearly seventy-five percent. In many businesses this cost is not to great however in the shipping company we must use a great deal of information that has been printed on paper. So by developing applications for the intranet we can cut a great deal of are cost.

The next way that the intranet can help us to make a profit is to make are company more competitive in the shipping industry. The way that this can be done is by making application that speed up are service as well as helping us keep better records of deliveries. Hopefully by implement such application we can gain a larger market share through being able to provide better customer satisfaction.

The is one last topic that must be covered under the cost justification section. This topic is the question of how quickly we should implement are intranet. Many companies have went out of business by implementing ineffective computer systems. So we have to be very careful when deciding how we are going to implement this intranet. Are strategy is to start small. First we will complete the network of the corporate branch. Then we will go and setup LANs in the most important departments. After setting up networks in the most important departments we will then integrate the other departments. Hopefully by implementing this strategy we will be able to effectively implement a successful intranet for are company.
