My interest in Art in mainly due to the influences from my girlfriend who is an Art Fanatic. So far, my favorite artist would have to be Francisco Goya, a.k.a. the "Father of Modern Art". His paintings are rather morbid to most people but to me they capitalize both the good and evil aspects of the Human Race. Also, remember that you must interpret Art in your own way.

Below is a painting from Goya called "Saturn Devouring His Child". I believe Goya painted this painting in reference to the quote of the revolutionary leader Pierre Vergniuad who said, "There is reason to fear that, like Saturn, the Revolution might devour each of it's children in turn". Ironically, Vergniuad was killed for opposing Robespierre and therefore he was devoured by his revolution, the French Revolution.

Saturn (Cronos) in Greek mythology was the father of Jupiter (Zeus) who ate his children because he was told by a mystic that one of his children one day would overthrow him so he ate his children, well, except for Zeus who overthrew him.

A good book about Goya is Francisco Goya: Painter Of Kings and Demons By Sylvia L. Horwitz. So if your interested about Goya, that is a good book to check out.

Quite a morbid picture. But it does show the greediness of humans to stay in power by any means necessary.

The paintings below are some of my favorites, so check them out. Two of them I really like.
