I grew up in Hendersonville and went through elementary school, gradually learning the ways of the world. Interesting things didn't happen until Junior High, when I was considered a "nerd" by the whole school. I was called "opie" because of my red hair, my grades, and my reputation. This point in my life was crucial, however, since it allowed me to analytically reintroduce myself to the social world that I love. I had high hopes going into high school. I gained enough confidence to run for president of my 11th grade class, and when I won I was well on my way.
Senior year, more involvement: Track, Student Council, National Honor Society, and of course Boy Scouts. Boy Scouts was very important to me growing up especially during my Junior High days. Not being in Scouts would have left a big hole in my life.
Now for college: I had a 1420 SAT, but MIT still turned me down, so I decided to come to NC State instead. Boy am I glad I did: I love this school. There is no other way to say it. It may be the freedom from my parents or just the new experience but all things considered I love it.
I'm ready for the next step, so lets get on with life already!
Sincerely,
Feburary 1997
