About Us

Centre of Plasma Physics was established in 1991 by the State Govt. of Assam, India, to pursue basic research in plasma physics and its related areas.

It is an autonomous institute under the Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of Assam, India.

Till April, 2004, the Lab was located at a rented campus at Guwahati, the capital city of Assam, one of the most beautiful states of India, situated in the northeastern part of the country.

On May 1, 2004, the Lab was shifted to its permanent campus on a picturesque hill adjoining the village Tepesia, Sonapur, in the outskirt of the city of Guwahati.
