The Scroll of Knowledge

After a short while, you notice sitting at the base of a statue, a dusty looking scroll. Curious you open it to see faded words. These words speak of a great and powerfull warrior by the name of Riong. Before the time of the kingdoms of the lands of nexus, there lived many nomadic groups.Four of which where the most powerful each was represented by one of the elemental trigrams, heaven, earth, fire, and water. Many epic wars where fought and alliences where formed between the four largest and most powerfull tribes. heaven alligned with water and earth alligned with fire. the two factions battled among each others. While many other tribes existed, these lived peacefully with each other, each of them had there own traditions and there own talant. trade between the tribes flourished as each of them where masters of a craft. Wood skills, cloth skills, rock skills, and food skills. The economys of the tribes grew and it was decided that the tribes would join together to share there skills and to share there wealth. For many yuri's the people enjoyed peace, but the two warring tribes had seen the wealth of the tribe and seeked to own it. both tribes worked in secret on plans to attack and take the wealth of the people for there own.

The warring tribes attacked the villages of the peacefull tribe. a epic battle raged on for many yuri's as the people fought to defend there homes and familys. but the battle was hard with no one to lead the fight aginest the invaders. It was decided that the most powerfull warrior, Riong would lead the fight. houses where destoyed and the moral of the people was slipping. The warriors and mages, battled bravely, the rogues worked in secret spying on the two invading factions, and the poets worked hard to protect and heal those fighting. slowly the people of the villages gained ground that had been taken from them forcefully and the tides of war had shifted. With Riong leading the people, victory seemed not far off. But in a epic battle between Riong and the Leader of the allignment of earth and fire, Riong was slain. it seemed all hope was lost for the great warrior and leader of the effort to recalim there life was gone.

The people mourned but knew they still had to fight the battle, for it would be a disgrace to Riong's memory to give up. They fought long and hard to keep their ground. Though they where tired from the battle, they keeped going. Worry swept accross the ranks as they where not losing ground but still not gaining it. they prayed to the totem goods for help and guidence. No sign came from ju jak, the totem of magic. Nor did a sign come from baehko, the totem of stealth and cunning. also no sign came from hyun moo, the totem of healing. when all hope dwindled on help from the powerfull totems, the totem of the strength and power, Chung ryong gave them a sign. the diviners of the village where overiddin with the vision of Riong. with each progressive day the visions would return, each time Riong would be seen with the trigram of one of the natural elements, heaven, earth, fire, and water. upon the 6th vision, Riong was seen with a great dragon loaming over him. but on the 7th daym the diviners saw a vision of riong transforming into the dragon. the diviners rushed to the battle feild to tell of the vision to find that the battle had stopped as a great orb of light had formed in the middle of the battle.

The light contined to grow in size and brightness. Everyonce watched in awe as the light slowly took the form of a dragon. Fear swepted all sides, but the dragon seemed to radiate with power. before anyone could run, the dragon made its move. Fire rained rained down from the dragon, attacking those who sought to gain the wealths of others. the earth trembled and the ground cracked open revealing pits of lava, the skys erupted in showers of stars, but the people of the villages where protected by some force. When the last of the invaders had perished the ground reformed, the fires where extinguised by a rain storm, and the sky had settled down. A new dawn was rising from the east and the people where coming to grips with what had just happened. The diviners told of the final vision, of Riong becoming a Great dragon. The people looked for the dragon but found it had vanished. Riong had returned to the people.

It had been 5 long yuri's since the battle had started, of the hundreds of people who had lived in the beginning, only a small portion of them remained. Familys had been ravaged, but the unity that was formed during the epic battle formed a new family. The people to hurt emotionably by the sight of the land moved to what is now the great city of Buya. The memory of Riong was passed down through the generations. They are forever thankful for Riongs sacrafice and Chung Ryongs gift.
