TECHNICAL COMPLIANCE LABEL

All technical compliance labels are now printed and sold,  to registered suppliers and importers only,  by SIRIM Berhad. In a letter from the President and Chief Executive of SIRIM Berhad to Eco Media Point Sdn Bhd, it was requested that Eco Media Point Sdn Bhd to cease printing the compliance label and also to stop accepting orders from suppliers. The new compliance labels take effect from 1st April, 1999. This covers all equipment that have been granted type approval by JTM, and now SIRIM Berhad. All registered suppliers and importers please ensure that you now purchase the new SIRIM labels for all equipment that was approved by JTM (prior to 1.4.1999).

The NEW compliance label have been redesigned by SIRIM Berhad and does not have the JTM logo anymore. Instead it now bears the SIRIM 'top' mark and incoporate several securities features. This new design have been given the approval by the Communication and Multimedia Commission (CMC). They are available in four (4) different sizes, as before, and there is no change in the pricing.

Orders for the labels can be made over the counter at our One-Stop Testing Center at Building 11, SIRIM Berhad, Shah Alam. All orders must be made using the specified requisition forms available at the counter. The price per book is RM10.00 and contains 50 sets of requisition forms.  Kindly note that all requisitions are subjected to 10% Sales tax, and should be included in the total payment in the requisition form.

Companies that have purchase the OLD labels up to 31.3.1999 may continue to use those labels until their supply is exhausted or 30.6.1999, whichever is the earlier.

The sale of the labels are subjected to the following terms and conditions :-

• The product has already obtained the technical compliance approval from SIRIM Berhad.
• The applicant is registered with SIRIM Berhad as the supplier/importer for the product.
• The quantity of labels purchased is limited to the amount imported, as shown on the invoice or purchased order.
• All payments are to be made in full prior to collection of the labels.
• Only authorised personel are allowed to collect the labels from the One-Stop Center. Companies are requested to notify this section (CETS) on the authorised officer.
• All compliance labels are to be sticked on to the product prior to sale.

We have received several reports notifying us that some suppliers and importers are still purchasing their approval labels from Eco Media Point Sdn Bhd after 1.4.1999.  For those that have done so, kindly contact us for assistance, since the labels that you have bought are NOT VALID and may violate the regulations of the Commission.
