• What does the software have to do (by the way)?

Well, from a general point of view the program should do: read the data from the acquisition card, interpret and normalize the data and send it to a central, from there the central stores the data on the drive (backup) and creates a webpage showing the recently received data, we know, it can do far more interesting things, but for now, that is what it should do...
 
• Current software proposal:

The current software we are developing is divided on four main sections, first the digital IO interface, secondly the analog input interface, the modem and comunications procedures and finally the main secction (where the timing issues are dealt with). The digital IO (DIO) and the Analog readings (ADC) are done by reading the io map in Priviledge User Mode, by outb, and inb.
