Indirect-Direct Adiabatic Systems (IDAs)

VehiCool is the first and only company to design, develop, produce and test ultra high performance Indirect-Direct Adiabatic systems. From temperate Orange County to the scorching heat of Palm Springs, California and across the hot and humid Midwest, IDA systems have kept their cool.

IDAs enhance the performance of the direct adiabatic cell by interposing a flat-plate, cross-flow heat exchanger, which results in lower air temperature and reduced humidity.

The latest, state-of-the-art VehiCool IDA systems have been produced and tested under a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and demonstrated the ability to provide comfortable climate control under diverse and adverse climate conditions.

Electric Vehicle Air Conditioning (EVAC)

VehiCool was selected to design and build the first solar powered adiabatic air conditioning system for a Bank of America electric shuttle bus. Driven by requirements to minimize weight and power consumption, the company developed an innovative, lightweight, space saver design, yet maintained the usual high performance standards.  Drawing only 1.35Kw of power, the EVAC system is powered by an array of roof-mounted solar collectors that eliminate any net power use to provide passenger cooling. This innovative AAC design now forms the basis for all rear-mount VehiCool units.

Truck & Van Units (TVUs)

The success  with EVAC devlopment led to further miniaturization as the company developed and tested small-scale equipment suitable for use on trucks, vans and recreational vehicles. After initial R&D, the company was selected to design and produce a proprietary system for an electric car, currently undergoing in-service testing.
