Dream Halloween 1996 Barbie Makes Dreams Come True! On October 26, 1996, Barbie and more than 150 Mattel employees volunteered their services to help stage Dream Halloween, an annual fundraiser for the Children Affected by AIDS Foundation(CAAF). More than 1,300 people attended the event, including 250 children who either have AIDS or whose parents have AIDS. In its third year, the event raised more than $620,000 and featured costumed characters, a fun house,trick-or-treating activities, and continuous entertainment. One of the highlights of the evening one-of-a-kind Barbie® dolls which garnered $60,000 for CAAF. The highest bid for a single doll was $15,500 for a Bob Mackie original designed just for Dream Halloween (pictured at left). |
