The Brenda Starr doll from Effanbee


Effanbee Doll Company issued a new version of the Brenda Starr doll in November 1999. She is a 16" vinyl fashion doll in four styles wearing various outfits representing the 1940's era. There is a Brenda Starr Reporter doll, Brenda Starr in a peignoir, Brenda Starr in a red ballgown and a limited edition of 1000 Brenda Starr in a pink & black evening gown with real diamond jewelry. For 2000, there are more new Brenda dressed dolls and this year, additional outfits are offered for the dolls. In 2001 Basil St. John is introduced!

In 2004 the Robert Tonner doll company introduced a new Brenda Starr doll under the Effanbee label. She has the same body now as their Tyler Wentworth doll, but a new face sculpt.


Here is the original Basil St. John doll by Effanbee released in 2001. He comes with a removeable eye patch in a white tuxedo suit. Basil is jointed at the knees and elbows and has boxer shorts and t-shirt under his suit. Here he is with both the "old" and new" Brenda Starr dolls. The raven hair Brenda is a limited edition just released in November 2004 from Cherished Friends Doll shop called Tropical Holiday Brenda

Here is one of the "outfits" Effanbee issued for Brenda Starr in 2000. It is called Mandarin Mystery and is really wonderful! The outfit is a lime green silk chinese style robe with beaded and embroidered detail. It comes with a matching hat, ankle tie shoes, a fan, crystal jewelry and really neat undergarments including lace panties, a working garter belt and stockings!! The box as shown has photos of Brenda's outfits from the 1940's comic strip.




Here is the newest Brenda Starr doll for 2000 - Brenda in Masquerade, a limited edition of 2000 dolls. She wears a gorgeous red silk and velvet gown with tiny rosettes and bows and beads. Under her gown she wears red garters, panties and nude stockings.




Here is Brenda Starr dressed in her peignoir outfit. This photo also shows the great box that the doll comes in with comic graphics all over it showing Brenda as she was drawn in the comic strip. This photo shows the doll without her nightgown, showing her robe and matching underwear, stand and photo of Basil.




Here is the Brenda Starr Reporter doll in the lovely teal blue suit that she arrives in. She also comes with a matching handbag in teal and black vinyl, a copy of a little Flash newspaper, a black wool hat and a blue chiffon scarf and black platform shoes.




The Brenda Starr Marie Antoinette doll from 2002. The only Brenda with platinum hair issued in the original series and quite hard to find.
