Shamaw's little corner of the world

This page is dedicated to my Mom and the Grandmother of my children, she's a real lady and very special to us all. I hope you will enjoy your visit to this page, I will be working on it periodically so please come back often for a visit. I love you Mom and I hope you like what I've done.

Shamaw is what my children call their Grandmother. Her real name is Virginia. It all started with my first child, who also happened to be the first grandson and great grandson. My Mother was not ready to be a grandmother at the age of 38 and she refused to be called any of the traditional names like Grandma, Grammy, Granny, Nanny or any thing else to that effect. So when Justin, my son, began to talk it was exciting as it is when children start to say their first words. He had said something one day and she was visiting and I told him to tell Grandma what he had said. Well not only did he tell her but instead of saying Grandma he called her Shamaw, which she loved, it was different, it was unique and no one else has that name. So she was a happy woman. Now almost 16 years later and 4 more grandchildren she's still being called Shamaw.

She is a true lady in my eyes, I've strived to be like her in many ways. She doesn't think so but she is a very strong woman. She's survived two divorces, the birth of four of her own children, raising those children mostly on her own, the death of her son, her father and her mother. She helps and supports my baby sister who sufferers from MS, and by the way she is the mother of Grandchild number 5, Joshua or Joshie as we all call him. She's made almost as many moves as I have, and I moved alot being married to a military man. She's had to start over at new jobs after each of these moves. She's worked in the newspaper business for many years now. I know that she fills that she isn't strong, but with all that she has survived and overcome, She is one of the strongest that I know. The purpose of this page is to introduce you to her, to let people know how special she is to me, my sister and our families. What better way to tell the world of the worlds best Mom than in cyber space.
