Richard Arutunian has been in the menswear apparel business since the middle 1950's to the late 1990's. He spent 12 years in the retail menswear business before forming his own company and designing and styling neckwear under the name of "Saint Pierre".
Richard started one of the first Boutique shops in the USA. From 1964 to 1967 he sold "Very Hip" clothing to both men and women. Richard's taste for the unusual in neckties and the public's need for ties to complement the wide shirt collars of the 1960's started him in the designing and styling of neckwear. From 1968 to 1972, Richard designed a collection of ties that included "Peace Signs", "Mushrooms", and other icons of the era.
In the past, Richard has been the "Neckwear Historian" of the Neckwear Association of America (NAA) in New York City .
Richard's personal collection of ties dates back to the early 1920's. The collection covers the entire spectrum of design through the early 1970's. He has collected ties for over 35 years. He has been a consultant to the movie and television industry and to Estate sales groups.
Richard's ties have been sold in some of the most prestigious shops in the world. They have been found in Boutiques in Hollywood CA, San Francisco, Soho in NYC, and in the best stores in the world such as Barneys in New York City, Galleries LaFayette in Paris, and Harrolds in London..
