This was the day I took my automobile in for a smog check. When I returned to the service station (after shopping for an hour) the car wouldn't shift gears. The owner of the station refused to admit that he had done anything wrong. I don't know whether I was more upset about the destroyed transmission or about being treated like an idiot. It cost over $2000 to fix the thing and the station eventually paid for it.

However, they did get the car to pass the smog check.

I enjoy the zoo - but I also like watching the people watch the animals.
People who never speak to a human stranger will eagerly mimic the sounds of zoo animals
- and they don't have the foggiest notion what they're saying either.

This picture was taken on Halloween.
That must be why I'm wearing an orange blouse.

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays
because people have a chance to be who they want to be be,
rather than who they're told to be.
