May Her Light Continue to Shine

In tribute to Princess Diana, whose luminous presence, and loving, charitable spirit touched the world, the Ashton-Drake Galleries brings us this beautiful, hand-painted porcelain doll - Diana, Princess of Wales.

She is 18" tall and the first issue in the "Portraits of Diana collection", a four doll set, sculptured by world-renowned artist Titus Tomescu. She is dressed in a midnight blue, silk velvet gown - with a draped neckline and dramatic asymetrically draped skirt - representing the dress Princess Di wore when she attended a special evening at the Reagan White House. She was widely photographed in this dress as she danced with the President. It is one of the gowns that Princess Diana herself donated to be auctioned for charity - a sale that raised millions of dollars to benefit the causes she valued so highly. It was this gown that brought the highest price at auction - $222,500.

We can help carry on the charitable work that Princess Diana started through our purchase off this doll. Ashton-Drake will contribute a portion of the purchase price of each doll sold to charities Diana supported. You will receive a numbered certificate of authenticity and stand. This doll is scheduled for a Spring '98 delivery, is item no: 96001, and is priced at about $133.00.

This is the second issue in the "Portraits of Diana collection". She is dressed in the brilliant scarlet gown, with beaded tunic top, that she wore on a royal state visit to Saudi Arabia. This gown also was donated by Princess Diana to be auctioned for charity. Comes complete with custom accessories and a replica of Diana's family tiara. Item no: 96002, and is priced at about $133.00.

Here is a picture that I took of a new Princess Diana doll that Ashton Drake had on display at this years' Toy Fair. I don't have any info on her yet, but I just had to share her with you. She may be the next one out, I'm not sure yet, but as soon as I get the info, I'll let you know.

Update: She is Ashton Drake's Princess Diana in green, "Royal Portrait", and she is a dealer only exclusive. She retails for about $180 & dealers are limited to only 3 or 4 of them. She will also be a limited edition, unlike the other four, & will not be available through Ashton Drake, only through an Ashton Drake dealer. Marl, of Marl & B, has a photo of her up.

The last two dolls in the series will be dressed in a white satin jacquard gown with gold embroidery (the same dress that the Madame Alexander Diana is wearing) & the other in a fuschia evening gown.

I want to thank Leona Payne who wrote to me and supplied me with the up-to-date info on this Princess Diana doll, as well as the coming two dolls that will be in the collection.

The rest of this collection will be showcased here as it is made available
