Many communities are very proud of their local mountains, but some mountains have obtained very important world renown status either because of the size, shape, or location. We find many spoons with mountains engraved on them, thus I am presenting just a few of the common ones.

The most numerous of the hand engraved mountains shown on spoons are the three volcanic mountains of the Pacific Northwest Cascade range located near large metropolitan areas. These volcanoes have been dormant for many years, but they are still potentially active and do present a threat of eruption or substantial mud flows. Mount St. Helen which blew it's top about a decade ago showed the awesome power of these volcanoes.

Mt. Tacoma, Washington 14529 feet

Although this spoon is labeled Mt. Tacoma, it bears a very strong resemblance to Mt. Hood. I suspect that the engravers just had a standard volcanic mountain picture to use and then labeled it according to where it was to be sold. The handle shows George Washington and the word "Washington" in fancy script.

Obviously not a mountain, but "webfoot" is so inherently related to the beautiful scenery of the Northwestern states, that I couldn't resist the urge to show this beautifully engraved spoon.
