Here are some useful tips to help make your visits even more enjoyable.



General Tips For IRC
Nicks


• Tip No.1...How to register your nick...If you wish to register you nick with nickserv please
  type... /msg NickServ register password ... ( password = a password of your choosing)
  
  
• Tip No.2...How to stop others using your nick... If you wish to stop other people from using
  your Nick ( while you are not on Dalnet ) type... /NickServ kill on
  
  
• Tip No.3...Alternate nicks...When registering a nick, it is wise to also register your -away
  or you may find nickserv kicking you because somebody is using it.
  
  
• Tip No.4...Save your nicks regularly... If you do not use it for 25 days, then it will get
  deleted from nickserv and will be available for anybody else to register.
  
  
• Tip No.5...How to identify to nickserv....Sometimes nickserv will ask for your password.
  If it does type.... /msg NickServ identify password ... ( password =your password)
  
  
• Tip No.6...Killing a ghost... To kill your Ghost nick just type ..../msg NickServ ghost
  nick password.
  
  
• Tip No.7...Setting invisible mode... To set your mode to invisible, go to set up folder, tab
  to irc server,click on invisible mode and then click okay.



Sending and receiving files


• Tip No.8...How too send a file via DCC ... Click on the person you want to send the file to,
  right click and go to DCC . click on send. In the box that appears change the packet size to
  4096, check the Fast send box, check the Fill spaces box, pick the file you wish to send
  and then click send. Once you have set these parameters, they will be stored for future use.
  
  
• Tip No.9...Increasing the speed of your sends...To "pump up" your DCC sends you may
  wish to type /pdcc 99999999999999999999 (that's 9 x 20)
  
  
• Tip No.10..Alternate pump command Max pump of dcc is /pdcc 2233333393333333 but
  this may cause lag. It's up to you.
  
  
• Tip No.11..DCC connection problems...Go to set up, tab to local info, erase any info in
  both boxes, select local host and ip, then check on connect get local host, make sure normal
  is checked and then reconnect to dalnet.
  
  
• Tip No.12..Fserve connections...If you cannot get into the F servers go to DCC options,
  tab to chat and make sure ignore is not checked. If it is uncheck it and click okay.
  
  
• Tip No. 13..Resuming files...To enable resume, go to DCC options, tab to send and in the
  box that says if auto get and file exists click the radio button that says resume then click okay.



Sounds


• Tip No. 14..Sending sounds to others..Click on general, tab to sounds, check accept sound
  request, check warn if sound does not exist, check listen for nick sound get requests, click
  on location of wave files and set the path to where you keep your waves, click on location of
  midi files and do the same for that and then click okay.
  
  
• Tip No. 15..Getting sounds from others...To get a sound from some one try this
  /msg Nick !Nick filename.ext (Replace nick with the persons actual nick.
  
  
• Tip No, 16 Getting sounds automatically...Add this line in remotes to automatically get any
  sounds that are played "on 1:NOSOUND:/msg $nick ! $+ $nick $nopath($filename)"
