Tables and queries are great for collecting and sorting data within your databases, but they don't go a long way in formatting your data in an easy to digest manner. Forms are the first of two formatting objects within Access that allow for an organized, graphical user interface.

Forms are a combination of control objects like text boxes, labels, and object frames that are bound to a table or query. Through the use of these controls, viewing and inputting information is made much easier. The following is a diagram of a simple form that is bound to the book table.

Form View

As seen in the diagram, one record is seen at a time allowing the user to input the appropriate information for one row entry all on the same form. To move through the row entries, use the buttons associated with the Data Control indicated in the diagram. The arrow heads with the lines move the form to the first and last row entry, respectively. The arrow head with the asterisk moves the form to the an empty row entry for data input. Finally, the row in the text box indicates the number of the row entry and the number out side of the arrows indicates how many entries there are.
