Return

I just finished watching the video of "Little Voice." The brutish foreground story of Michael Caine's and Brenda Blethyn's ambition (he for an agent's career, her for him as a husband) had me fast-fowarding a couple of time - but Brenda's daughter's singing (Jane Horrocks) was well worth it. It's not that often that watching someone lip-synching to Judy Garland or Barbara Streisand will bring a tear to my eye - but Jane Horrock's title performance was nothing short of amazing. You can imagine my shock at the end to read the credits and find that she wasn't lip-synching... This little girl's talent for imitation (not to mention vocal range) makes Rich Little sound like a mime. Virtually idiot savant quality imitation. I had to replay her stage medley 3 times. And I might just go do it again.

Absolutely amazing. The best 5 minutes of video music I ever rented.

Not that the rest of the story wasn't well acted, I just don't get off on watching little people belittle themselves and everyone around them. But to see/listen to Jane..... Later. I think the tape has finished rewinding.
