Return

I saw Office Space the other day on video. I think it was Ace who mentioned it before, but let me chime in. This is a very funny, original little movie. It falls apart a bit at the end, but nothing irredeemable.

You must see it if only for Gary Coleman, who hunted down the essence of middle management, got it right between the crosshairs of his scope, and squeezed the trigger. His nightmarishly accurate performance has probably disrupted the sleeping patterns of many a corporate hack, caused the death of several thousand of their coffee , and brought on a most welcome abatement in the use of the word, "Yeah".

But all the performances are wonderful, especially Ron Livingston as the eminently likeable lead, Ajay Naidu and David Herman as his nerdy nebbish pals, Diedrich Bader as the roommate*, and Stephen Root, who is nearly unrecognizable as Milton, who only wants his stapler and a cubicle to call his own.

And remember: "Since I started working, every single day has been worse than the day before, so that every day you see me is the worst day of my life."

*Ha. Diedrich Bader is the neighbor, not the roommate. But when you see the movie, you'll know why I made the mistake.
