In the "CalGal Is A Proud Mom" category:

While waiting for the movie to start, the slide show had some silly "trivia" questions. Spawn answered them easily, and asked me for more. I came up with a few more "name the plot" questions, but I thought they were ridiculously simple, so decided to come up with a tougher category.

So I said, "Name someone who was in both Apollo 13 and The Truman Show."

"Ed Harris," Spawn said, without a moment (and I mean, not a *moment*) of hesitation. My heart swelled up with righteous maternal pride.

"Name someone who was in both The Fugitive and The Matrix."

"Oh, yeah, the bad guy was Cosmo! What's his name?"

"Joe Pantoliano. Name someone who was in both George of the Jungle and The Truman Show."

"Hmm. The girl? No! The mom! Hey, she always plays mean moms, huh? What's her name?"

"Holland Taylor."

The lights dimmed and the movie started, so no more questions. As we were driving home, Spawn said, "Hey! Name someone who was in both Jingle All The Way and The Phantom Menace."

I said, "What? Really? I only saw Jingle All The Way once, so I don't know."

He said, "Jake Lloyd!"

I said, "Naw, I read it was his first film."

Spawn said, "No, it's that same voice. I closed my eyes and listened just to be sure."

Of course when we get home, the IMD agrees with Spawn.

I said, "I have raised you well, my son. You know, not too many people outside of movie buffs could have answered the one on Ed Harris that quick."

Spawn said, judiciously, "Well. I bet Ed Harris could."
