Finally caught up with "Billy Elliot." Quite liked it. Nicely uncluttered visual style, and the kid is tremendous. The film simply doesn't exist without him. And it's a real performance -- not justa kid being himself.
Interesting on an ideological level (the only one thatmatters, IMO) the film is about the effects of being gay without actually dealing with gayness.
