Return

Went to the cast and crew screening of The Fluffer last night, Richard Glatzer and Wash West's comedy-drama about the gay porn business. Very unusual film in that it seems to start off as a satire but quickly turns to acautionary tale of unrequited love. All the principle players are new and excellent. More to say about this one in the new year.

Sundance turned it down (a good sign, IMO -- that place is such a hell hole), but it will be at Berlin and Toronto.

Barbara Steele, who gets a thank you in the end credits (I think she invested in it), was at the "Fluffer" screening last night. Got a chance to chat with her (about Donald Cammell, Volker Schlondorf, and Louis Malle), and a photo for "Ehrensteinland." She's enraged about the election. "In other countries they would be rioting in the street!" she said, flaring those famous nostrils.

Germany came up in the conversation (we were chatting with Taylor Negron who she came with along with Amy Heckerling), and Barbara Steele said "Oh I was in Germany a lot, years ago."

"Where was Young Torless shot?" I asked her.

"Munich! You know that one? Oh that was something. Matthieu Carriere said he was going to commit suicide if he had to kiss me," the goddess chuckled.

But if you saw he film you know he kissed her and lived.
