For about the first half, "What Lies" shapes up as a really, really good ghost story. Then preposterousness sets in and doesn't let up. Interesting to see stars like Ford and Pfeiffer in a Polanski-cum-Kubrick thriller, but Zemeckis can't quite carry the damned thing over the finish line. One "climax" too many.
