The Grinch Who Stole Christmas

I wondered how they were going to take the Grinch to movie length. Now that I know, I wish I'd saved my $$.

I like the original plot of good Whos, bad Grinch, Grinch hates Christmas and totally misunderstands what it is about so tries to "steal" it by stealing all the stuff, and Whos just go on to celebrate as usual.

Movie plot - first we hit all the Christmas-is-too-commercialized cliches with graspy Whos scurrying around to get the best and most gifts and my-house-is-lit-better-than-your-house contests. In the midst of this is sweet little CindiLou Who trying to find the "real" meaning of Christmas. Throw in flashbacks of how poor misunderstood Grinch isn't really evil, but was turned mean when he was mistreated while growing up in Whoville because he is "different" culminating in the major humiliation occurring at Christmas to explain why he hates Christmas. Oh, and then muck it up with a romantic rivallry between the Grinch and Whoville's mayor for a lovely ladylove - the lady who happens to be CindiLou Who's mother's chief rival in outdoor Christmas lighting. And then.....

Well, let's just say the film left no cliche unturned while giving Jim Carrey lots of opportunities to ham it up.

LD liked it.

I think I fell asleep a couple of times.
