Return

I was disappointed in 'Galaxy Quest.' While I suppose the climax was better than we see in most spoofs, the movie just didn't have enough laughs to be a good comedy.

The best scenes were when Tim Allen was spoofing William Shatner. So what if Shatner is the easiest-to-spoof man in Hollywood?

Oddly enough, I have been a sci-fi fan since grade school. I even went to those conventions, which were portrayed with too much realism for a comedy. My wife hates sci-fi. Yet somehow she got more laughs than I did and recommends the movie to her friends.

If I had written 'Galaxy Quest' the alien technology would have been more realistic, aspiring to but not matching the TV show. The good aliens would have gotten lots of laughs begging the TV stars to explain their secrets. ("How do you make a gun that always stuns creatures you've never seen before, but never hurts them? How do you hear explosions in space? How do you seduce aliens with whom you cannot possibly breed? Who plays that tense music every time you are in danger?")
