Return

You Can Count on Me is a superb movie.

It is the story about a brother and sister trying to cope with the difficulties that the world has thrown at them. It is both wrenching and deeply insightful. It is written and acted with great subtlety.

This is not a movie for everyone. It is intimate and a bit depressing. The movie that I would most compare it to is The Sweet Hereafter. It has a little bit in common with Georgia as well, but neither The Sweet Hereafter nor Georgia is much of a match.

You Can Count on Me is one of my top four movies of 2000, the others being Croupier, Waking the Dead and Bamboozled.
