Scary Movie: This spoof is a little above the level of the Lloyd Bridges/Charlie Sheen spoof or the Emilios Estevez/Samual L. Jackson spoof. There are three or four funny gags, and one or two funny running jokes, and precious little else. Grade: C.
Road Trip: Like American Pie before it, Road Trip is less funny than critics described. Tom Green (the madman who filmed his own testicular cancer surgery for MTV and presently dates Drew Barrymore) is an acquired taste. Some of his bits are funny, some are lethargic. The rest of the film is sometimes clever (the slo-motion dance of an awkward college geek dancing to hip-hop is very funny) but mostly stupid. Animal House ran the table on college-level humor and there is not much room to expound on the genre. Grade: C+.
