I just saw "American Beauty" last night -- OK, so
I'm a little behind the curve. God, I want Kevin Spacey to have
my children, or something like that. I've been a fan ever since I
first saw him on "Wise Guy." Talk about the mother of
all mid-life crises! It kept me on the edge of my seat throughout.
And Annette Bening should have been spanked (again -- she does
that attitude so well). Chris Cooper never fails to amaze me -- I
remember him from "Twin Peaks" and it seems that each
role he plays is so different from the previous one (like "Lone
Star"). And all the young actors were good too. I kept
thinking that the blonde girl (Mena Suvi or something like that)
should have played Lolita. She certainly could drive a middle-aged
man crazy without trying hard.
I was impressed with the tight script and so many interesting
characters. It made me want to know more about them, which makes
me feel that the writer(s) did their job well. I was actually
longing for some backstory.
