Saw "Tea with Mussolini" last night. Who would have
thought that Cher could upstage all those esteemded British
"dames?" I haven't seen Maggie Smith dither in a long
time. I wanted to slap her for a reality check. And finally, Lily
Tomlin COMES OUT! What a terrific film. It reminded me of one of
the better Merchant-Ivory films like "Howard's End." I
was surprised by it because it had far more plot than I
anticipated (I was prepared for one of those damn "evocative"
movies like "The Garden of the Finzi-Continis") and
wonderful characters.
