I also watched Gladiator on my "new and improved" home theater system. Ignoring much very bad history, great realism in the battle scenes (with the exception of the exploding fireballs), and a great score highlighted by the vocals of Lisa Gerrard. The DVD has an extra disc which contains some interesting history on gladiatorial conflict.
