Pitch Black: A better space movie in all respects, but that is not saying much. A passenger ship carrying a dangerous and murderous convict (Vin Diesel) malfunctions and lands on a planet that has three suns. As it never gets dark, the marooned group need not worry about the huge bat-like creatures that inhabit the darkness of the planet's caves. The only thing that could go wrong, in fact, would be a triple eclipse. And if that happened, you'd need the assistance of the psycho convict (who, luckily, can see in the dark because he underwent a prison operation to do just that). And he would learn the meaning of friendship. Grade: C
