I saw Rocky for the first time last night and was pleasantly surprised at how good it is. It's funny that Stallone's later characters were all silent grunting types. I wasn't at all prepared for Rocky to be this non-stop babbling stream of consciousness guy. I kept thinking geez, he's ADD. A kid like that today would be on Ritalin in a heartbeat. I also had no idea Rocky was a legbreaker.
And I loved the way Apollo Creed was written as this savvy showbiz marketing guy. I liked the scenes where they'd cut back and forth between Rocky pounding on meat and Creed talking about market share at his big conference table.
