Return

Anyone with small children will be doing them (and yourself) a great favor by taking them to see 'Madeline'. Especially if, like me, you have included the 'Madeline' series of children's books by Ludwig Bemelmans in your children's repertoire of bedtime stories.

The plots from every one of the books and cartoons, and many of the more memorable vignettes, are cleverly intertwined into the story, which is played straight and faithful to the books, and which culminates in the famous kidnapping of Madeline and Pepito, the Spanish Ambassador's son. Very good performances from all the young girls - no Anna Paquins here, but much better than you'd expect from a group of 12 unknown little actresses.
