Return

Just got back from viewing _Antz_.

Cute film, good voices but the characters were like images of the stereotypes surrounding the people who played them. Allen was the neurotic, questioning, seeking, but eventually triumphant ant; Stallone was the brawn minus brain soldier with the heart of gold; Stone was the useless princess; and Hackman was the......insane, megalomaniac general ant trying to take over the colony. The only one who didn't play to type was Watkins, who played a more sympathetic, thoughtful character than he has in any real action picture for a while.

It was fun, though, and there were some classic throw away lines. The whole ant colony setting also lent itself to some imaginative and funny scenes.

Of course, I had my offspring along as an excuse to see the flick, but I'm not sure I'd go sans child
