Pi was very pretty, but not nearly as deep as it thought it was,
or at least not nearly as deep as it pretended to be. Even a
non-mathematician like myself could see the science was baloney,
but that's certainly nothing new, or worth complaining about.
There were some nice simages that echoes others (the Go board and
the bathroom tiles, the bugs in the room and the bugs in the
computer, etc.) and these were obviously meant to draw attention
to how smart and insightful the movie is, except that if you
think about them for long, you realize that they are gestures
devoid of meaning, because the context is bullshit - what the
hell do pi or the golden mean have to do with Kabbalah or the
stock market, anyway? |
