Return

The Catholic critique ought not take all this s... so seriously. This will be my only specific reference to a religion. With unashamed irreverence the cast hits a home run with me for its muses' approach to religion. Funny as this movie is, an underlying message might be available to those listening for it, myself among those.

Having no opportunity to see the film until today, I have heard of the stir this film has caused in certain circles. My own irreverence is excited by the methods used to approach the subject of faith (belief) in a God. I would like it very much if the religioso' mafia were locked in a theater and made to watch this film, over and over. A statement in reference to televangelism in itself wins me over to listening for what might be.

What might be? The premise that having faith alone, and living a life based upon the belief one has in God as they understand God to be. Woman or man, black, asian or white, God isn't to be defined in human terms anyway. That is a credible notion which I've always accepted with my own faith. Religions are a focus of derision, focusing on the distracting affects they have upon the participants. This suits me just fine, I'm not going back to the money grubbing God pushers house of shame. The distraction premise hit home for me with this film, has been my message for some time. It's all about faith (belief), not riches and power, and how many countries your church sent missionaries.

Turns out the lowliest will see the kingdom, taking into account Jay and Silent Bob. As God (Alanis Morisette) kisses the foul mouthed Jay for his help stopping the fallen angels. Jay is admonished by the "voice" to clean up his mouth, but the final scene has Jay talking about his half woody for God. What a hoot. It's an f'n film for Pete's sake. The entertainment value with a message of faith, may have been a message soul's like Jay might listen to.

Could happen.

OK, it's not an evangelist's ideal for carrying a message of faith and belief in a God as human's understand it to be. But, that's entertainment.

Don't have a cow, and peace out.
