My two cents re. Charlie's Angels:

* ** I agree, the movie was plenty of fun. I also liked the fact that it generally avoided self-referential irony, and other tedious winks and nudges meant to add a patina of po-mo respectability to the endeavour. The movie simply tried to be as much fun as possible and for the most part it succeeded.

* Although initially exciting to watch, the Matrix style martial arts stuff grew thin in the latter parts of the movie.

* Cameron Diaz is to die for. I find her to be incredibly hot in a wide-mouth frog sort of way. Moreover, I think that she is one of the best comic actors working today. No matter how ineptly conceived the gag she manages to pull it off with bravado.

* David Edelstiein's one line summary of Charlie's Angels is dead on: This movie is so Drew -- and that's a good thing.

* Certainly not high-art or anything near, Charlie's Angels is fun to watch and not a waste of your hard earned dollars. Given the dearth of good films released so far this season, that is high praise indeed.
