Anybody else see "Central Station" a Brazilian movie that won best film and best actress at the 1998 Berlin Film Festival? It tells the story of a Josue', a young boy in Rio, and Dora, a cynical and scheming woman, who form a relationship (not a sexual relationship) after Josue''s mother's accidental death. The movie reveals a lot about contemporary Brazil and human nature as well. Not a funny movie like "Dona Flor" and others based on Jorge Amado's gentle books but worth seeing in my opinion. It's the kind of movie Hollywood apparently is incapable of making. Fernanda Montenegro is magnificent as Dora and so is Vinicius De Oliveira as Josue'. Directed by Walter Salles.
