Return

Saw the new version of Touch of Evil restored in accordance with the Welles memo. I remember enjoying the original, but not recently enough to describe the differences. Welles was magnificent as the crooked border town cop. Charleton Heston and Janet Leigh were bad but not bad enough to ruin the movie which is worth seeing as what I guess is an early film noire. The camera defined the setting and mood with panning shots of the town and close ups of Welles's evil face and Leigh's Cadillac bumper guard breasts. (I had nearly forgotten what breasts looked like in the fifties!)
