Saw another Chinese movie tonight, YiYi, that couldn't be more different from Crouching Tiger. The NYT called it a Taiwanese version of American Beauty. It was filmed in Taipei and depicted three hours of the highs and lows (mostly lows) of contemporary family life there. The critics like it, but it was a bit too slow paced for me.
