Watching Russian TV in Antwerp
If you're studying Russian, or you're a Russian living in Antwerp, it is quite interesting to be able to receive Russian Television Programms. Since only few European Television Stations are broadcasting Russian programms or films ("ARTE" does someetimes, watch their programm-listings), you should look for receiving our own stations (ORT, NTV, ... )
This is a survey of how you can receive them in Antwerp (Belgium).
ORT - our first public channel
This channel is mainly broadcasting news, films, series and shows. They also have a bit of child programms, music programms and documentaries.
Reception: with a C-band dish of 3 meter on the eastern satellites, to be placed high and very expensive. With a smaller C-band dish(1,5 meter) on Gorizont (11° west) or with a small KU-band dish(1 meter) in digital reception on Intelsat 1° west (11,665 V, coded since 9-2-1999 by TV1 (subscription can be asked on http://www.tv1.ee) or the international version of ORT on THOR, 0,8° west (12,226 V), still uncoded .

NTV - the biggest private TV
Their packages contains several channels:
- NTV Internationaal (news, Russian films, shows and music)
- NTV Nashe Kino (only Russische films)
- NTV Detski Mir (childerns programms, most of them a little old, alll Russian
- NTV Evrosport (Europsport with Russian commentaries).
The package is not for free, so you have to buy a smartcard and pay subscription.,
Reception: with a small KU-band dish of minimum 2 meter on Intelsat 66° East, to be placed very high, with a large KU-band dish (3 meter) on Most (36° East) ; or with a small KU-band dish(60 cm) on HotBird 13° East(11,998 H, SR 20000 FEC ¾, coding in Viacess).
More information on this package can be seen and heard daily between 20 and 22 uur (GMT+1) uncoded on HotBird on the third NTV-channel (Detski Mir).

STB - privaat kanaal uit Kiev
This free channel is broadcasting most foreign films and series, most of them with Russian dubbing. The daily news is in Ukrainian language. Since they live on publicity, you'll have to watch pubs approx. every 15 minutes.
On their second audio channel you can listen to Radio Dovira, a popularlocal radio from Kiev.

Armenia TV - first Armenian channel
Their language s Armenian but they are boradcasting a lot of films in Russian !
Reception: with a KU-band dish of 0,6 meter on HotBird 13° East (12111 V).

Please keep in mind that the city of Antwerp has a rule that dishs should not be seen from the street and have to be placed at least 4 meter from the frontside of your house.
