SEGA!

I like Sega. If you're Sega, please give me a job. I need money. Now for a pointless story:

Way back in [insert year that Genesis came out], my brother and I got a Genesis for Christmas from our mom. Actually, by accident, we opened Thunder Force II before the system itself. Anywho, the same day, we also got a Game Boy from our dad. I liked the Genesis more, however, and we started collecting games for it. A year or two later, we still had both systems, but my brother and I decided to get a Super Nintendo. In many ways, I liked the Super Nintendo more. My stepmom forced me to meet some kid accross the street, Zach (now my best friend for like 8 years) and when I found out he had a Genesis, we were instant friends. Over the next couple years, he and I would hang out constantly and depending on whos house we were at (his or my dad's), we'd either play Super Nintendo or Genesis (my Genesis was at my mom's house).

One year, for my birthday, I got a Sega CD from my mom. I love it! It was a model 2 system, and I started madly collecting games for it. Around this point, I didn't play my Super Nintendo much any more. I bought Shining Force from my good friend Joe for $14, and I loved it, and from then on I started collecting RPGs for Genesis and Sega CD (mostly Sega CD). Time continued on happily, and Zach and I heard of Sega's next couple systems.

One Christmas, Zach got a CDX (combination Genesis/Sega CD but the size of a portable CD player), and it was the damn coolest thing ever! But instead of keeping it, after some tough decision making, he traded it for a Saturn. This is where my love truly began. I was jealous of his Saturn, so I saved up and finally bought mine on March 3rd, 1997. I couldn't afford an RF switch let alone a game at the time, but Zach was cool enough to loan me stuff so I could play. About a month later I had a game, The Legend of Oasis, and an RF switch, and from this point on, my Saturn collection grew almost exponentialy.

When playstation came out, I had played it at a friends house and kind of wanted one (for Jumping Flash). But when I got my Saturn, I was now dedicated to Sega. So when people would overlook Saturn for gaystation, I no longer liked it. Eventually, all the horrible events in Sega's life that happened towards Saturn built up that dislike into pure hatred for sony. Saturn's "death" was not entirely linked to sony, but I hated them for what they had become. So, I now was a fighter for the side of Sega. I gave the Super Nintendo and Game Boy and all the games to my brother, probably never to see them again. Purified, I began my campaign of Sega-only. So when Saturn had finally "died", I was devastated, but I still had faith in Sega, because they had stayed in it, for the fans.

Now, with Dreamcast enjoying a successful life, I am happy to see Sega doing well again. Not as well as I would like, in fact, far from it, but it makes me very happy to see them regaining some of the market that is rightfully theirs (they were the first video game company, afterall). So, as I hope for a good future for Sega, I have gone back and began collecting the Sega systems I missed (32X, Game Gear, Master System, even Pico), and I am a co-founder of Saturn Heaven, a Yahoo! club dedicated to all things Saturn. My lifelong dream, ever since I got that Genesis way back in at least 4th grade, has been to work for Sega. Who knows, perhaps someday Cheesequest will make its glorious debut on Dreamcast! The future is uncertain, but I know I'll always have faith in Sega.

My top ten favorite games of all time (maybe)

It's too damn hard to make a top 10 list. Shining Force III is probably my favorite game of all time, though there are many other games I'd probably rather play if I'm going to sit down to play something. After that, though.. Saturn Bomberman, Guardian Heroes, and Chu Chu Rocket.. gyaarrrgghh.. they're all so tasty....

  1. Advance Wars (Game Boy Advance)
  2. Mars Matrix (Dreamcast)
  3. Lemmings (Super Nintendo)
  4. PenPen TriIcelon (Dreamcast)
  5. VATLVA (Saturn)
  6. Panzer Dragoon Saga (Saturn)
  7. Guardian Heroes (Saturn)
  8. Chu Chu Rocket (Game Boy Advance)
  9. Saturn Bomberman (Saturn)
  10. Shining Force III (Saturn)

If I was cool (aka a loser, which I am.. success!), I'd list off every game I own and say something about it. That was the original plan. As you can see, I nearly thought about it.
