RainbowsAges 5 to 7 yearsThe newest branch of Guiding, started in 1988. Uniform is a coloured tabard worn over ordinary clothes, badge green with rainbow above. Rainbows do not make a promise as such as they are considered to be too young to understand its meaning.Rainbow Guide
BrowniesAges 7 to 10 or 11 yearsUniform is a yellow teeshirt or sweatshirt worn with brown trousers or culottes. Badges are pinned or stitched onto a sash worn diagonally across the shoulder.Brownie Guide
GuidesAges 10 or 11 to around 14 yearsUniform is the traditional blue - royal blue teeshirt or sweatshirt worn with navy blue trousers, skirt or culottes. Jeans have recently been accepted as informal wear. Neckers are optional and vary in colour from unit to unit. Badges are worn on a navy sash.Guide
RangersAges 14+ yearsGuides usually move on to Rangers at 14, although in theory they could remain as Guides up to the age of 26! Ranger uniform is similar to Guides but in turquoise instead of Royal blue, and badge sashes are not worn; instead Rangers wear their Promise badge, county badge etc, on badge tabs similar to Guiders'.Ranger Guide
GuidersAge range 18 to 65Guiders are all volunteers and after a period of training they are issued a Warrant to work with a particular pack or unit. Guiders usually wear informal uniform of blue sweater and navy trousers or jeans, with navy skirt and jacket over a blue striped shirt for formal wear.The colour of the stripes edging a Guider's badge tab denotes the section she is working with - green for Rainbows, yellow for Brownies, blue for Guides and Turquoise for Rangers.Guider
