The Large Munsterlander is an all-purpose gundog of German origin, about the size of a setter but a little heavier in build. Large Munsterlanders are invariably black-and-white with a black head and a body patched, spotted and ticked black on white. Their coat is well feathered and a very distinctive feature is the "flag" tail, usually predominantly or all white. They are a very good-natured breed but inclined to be vocal, and need a lot of exercise if their natural boisterousness is to be contained! At present I own two Large Munsterlanders, Suki (Datroy Suki) and Beamer (Hansmic Whitebeam,) both bitches and aged thirteen years and three years respectively, as well as seven-months-old Scully, a member of that other well-known German breed, the Heinz.
