		Mary Wandia Njuguna. Case number: Ref No IMP N 203852 Dear Barbara Roche, It is with utter dismay that I learnt that Mary was issued with a deportation order for the 14th of November. Mary Wandia Njuguna was a secretary for a legal firm in Nairobi. She fled Kenya in fear of her safety through her knowledge of deep-seated corruption by the electoral commissioner, also the Chief Justice...He was involved in the "Goldberg scandal", an investment scam covered up by a finance broker, Goldberg Bank. Since the beginning of the investigation, the Chief Justice suddenly died... His death is currently been investigated as suspicious, and could be linked to his knowledge of the Goldberg affair. There is an inquiry about the case, but the outcome is doubtful... Also, Mary is from the Kikuyu tribe, the majority ethnic group of farmers, but whose members are regularly dispossessed of their land, tortured and imprisoned in inhuman conditions. Many Kenyans who blew the whistle on the government are now disappeared without trace, "wiped-out, silenced", as the term goes in Kenya. Mary's former colleague at the law firm, David Kimani, is one of them... Mary 's young son Patrick was born in this country. He is a well-adjusted, bright and polite five year old little boy. Since being here, Mary has made a huge contribution to her local community, been an active member of the parents' network at her son's school. She worked at the local nursery for two years before she was forced to give up her right to paid employment. She still likes to help there regularly, contributes to the Women and Health Centre in Camden, where she helps with administrative tasks, and also visits isolated elderly people on a voluntary basis. Our community cannot afford to lose a valued, generous and dedicated person like Mary. Mary's friends, neighbours, campaigners and supporters fear for her life, and for Patrick's welfare, if they are deported to Kenya. There is a lot of evidence that they would both be in severe danger in this unstable, corrupted, brutal and violent country. It seems unjust and inhuman to send them back. This is why we are asking Jack Straw and Barbara Roche (Home Office M.P.s) to stop her deportation and allow Mary and her son to stay in the U.K. on compassionate grounds.
