***remove an unwanted program such as a snoop or back orifice*** Warning!!!Editing your registry is touchy business If you use these directions I've made here I will not be responsible for any problems incurred using my directions below. 1. Open up your regedit by goin to your "start" menu button ..and to "Run" and type "regedit" in the "run" window. 2. now you should see your registry editor window. select "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" by pressing the + box the the left of the file folder. 3.From this action you should see your config Enum hardware network Security Software System select Software folder by again pressing the + box to the left of the "software" file folder. 4. Again you will see a list of file folders that are in your computer. Look for the file folder "Microsoft" and press the + to the left of the Microsoft file folder. 5. Along with a number of other file folders look for your "Windows" file folder and once again press the + to the left of the "Windows" file folder. 6.Below your "Windows" file folder the file folder "CurrentVersion" should be..if not , scroll down till you see it and press the + beside the "CurrentVersion" file folder. 7.In this sub directory is a long list of ..yes more file folders. Look for the file folder "RUN". 8.Double click the "run" file folder and a list of running programs should appear in the window to the right starting with (default) (value not set) Now this is where the danger begins. What you must figure out is what running file is the file that is your unwanted trojen program Now most of us who dare to venture thus far are fairly well versed in what programs are in our systems. So if you see a program name that you don.t know how or why it's there then I would remove it. Be very carefull not to remove your loadwc.exe or your sysTray.exe. Anyway Highlite the program you want out and press delete. Now the file that you executed that put that damn program in to your run file folder is likely still in one of your save directories. Ig. if you got this file from someone in ICQ then the program would still be in your filefolder/persons name. directory. And most likely can,t be removed through windows because when you tried to delete it a window comes up "Cannot delete: access denied" make sure the disk isnot full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use. Well the only way i could remove the file without goin here and there was to delete it from DOS. ie: I deleted mine by going to the correct file folder C:\Program files\ICQ\received Files\users name.... where users name is the person who sent you the file.... and deleted it .
